Cue Cue/提示

stage-management

The signal to execute something in a show. A cue is both the trigger, which may be a line, a move or a sound, and the action it fires. The person calling the show gives a standby first and a go second. Nothing moves on the standby.

Regional usage

WhereTermNote

Easy to get wrong

A cue number is announced on the standby. The action happens on "go". Treating the standby as the instruction is how people get hit.
In a script, a cue can also mean the last words of the previous speech that tell an actor to come in. That is a different object from a technical cue.
