Two different jobs share one word. To call the show is to speak the standbys and the gos over comms so every department executes together. A call is also the time crew or cast have to be in the building, and the announcement that brings people to the stage.
Call the show 是在通話系統上報 standby 和 go,讓各部門一起動作。
Regional usage
| Where | Term | Note |
|---|---|---|
Easy to get wrong
"Call time" and "calling the show" are unrelated jobs. Confirm which one is meant before you accept a call.
In the UK the deputy stage manager calls the show. In the US the stage manager does. Same word, different person holding the book.
A five-minute call is an announcement to the company. A five-minute standby is a warning to a department. They are not interchangeable.
