AES11-2009 (r2019)
AES Recommended Practice for Digital Audio Engineering - Synchronization of digital audio equipment in studio operations
Scope
Digital Audio Reference Signal (DARS): what a house sync signal for digital audio looks like, how accurate it must be, and how equipment locks to it.
Notes
The document behind the word clock distribution amp in the bottom of the rack. In an AES67 or Dante world the equivalent job is done by PTP, and mixing the two - some devices on DARS, some on PTP, no defined relationship between them - is a reliable way to generate clicks nobody can find.
