DiGiCo SD12
Compact SD-range console that has become a rental-stock standard: enough channels for most touring work in a frame two people can carry, on the same show-file ecosystem as the larger desks.
Protocols it speaks
| Protocol | Direction | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| madi | bidirectional | Optical and coaxial MADI. |
| dante | bidirectional | Via optional card. |
| aes50 | bidirectional | Depending on fitted option. |
| word-clock | bidirectional | Clock in and out. |
| midi | bidirectional | Control. |
| osc | bidirectional | Via the external control protocol. |
What to watch for
I/O capability is a function of the fitted option cards and the racks, not of the surface. Two identical-looking SD12s can be very different systems.
Agree the clock master before the first line check. A console and a stage rack disagreeing about clock is the most common cause of intermittent digital noise.
