Pyro

safetysafety critical

Short for pyrotechnics: effects produced by burning a prepared composition before an audience. A separate discipline with a separate legal basis, where the competence to design and fire is licensed rather than learned informally. In the United States, NFPA 1126 governs pyrotechnics before a proximate audience and NFPA 160 governs flame effects; elsewhere the local authority having jurisdiction has the final say.

Easy to get wrong

Pyro is not an atmospheric effect, even when the visible result is a cloud. Coloured smoke burns a composition and falls under pyrotechnic rules.
A device sold as "proximate" is not thereby safe in your room. The rating describes the device; separation distance, what is above it and the authority having jurisdiction decide its use.
