Abort 中止/ABORT
The instruction to abandon a sequence rather than pause it. Where a hold freezes everything in place, an abort ends the attempt: automation comes off its move, an effect is not fired, and the show recovers by some other route that the stage manager will name. On pyrotechnics, flame and automation it is usually tied to a physical control rather than a spoken word, because a word can be misheard and a key cannot.

Easy to get wrong
An abort is not a hold. Hold means stop here and wait for instructions; abort means this is not happening. Treating an abort as a hold leaves a sequence loaded and liable to continue.
An abort is not necessarily a stop of the show. It abandons one sequence, and the performance frequently continues around it.
On effects systems the abort is usually hardware for a reason, and it is distinct from an emergency stop, which removes power and is a different decision with different consequences.
