ITU-R TF.460

Standard-frequency and time-signal emissions

ITU-Rnetworking2002free to readcurrent

Scope

The recommendation that defines UTC as a time scale: how it relates to International Atomic Time (TAI), and the leap-second mechanism that keeps it within a fraction of a second of the earth's rotation.

Notes

Relevant on a show because the three time scales in the rack are not the same: UTC includes leap seconds, TAI does not, and GNSS time is offset from both. A device that mixes them up is out by whole seconds, not milliseconds.
