Safety of machinery — Functional safety of safety-related control systems
Scope
The machinery-sector application of IEC 61508. Expresses the required risk reduction as Safety Integrity Levels and gives the methods for designing and verifying a safety-related control function against one.
Notes
The sibling of ISO 13849-1: the same problem approached through SIL rather than Performance Level. Either route is acceptable, and a specification that quotes both without saying which was assessed is quoting a marketing claim.
