IEC 60204-1
Safety of machinery — Electrical equipment of machines — Part 1: General requirements
Scope
The electrical safety requirements for machinery, including supply disconnection, protection against electric shock, control circuits, conductor identification, and the definition of stop categories 0, 1 and 2.
Notes
Stop categories come from here. Category 0 is immediate removal of power — correct for a hoist, because the brake is spring-applied and losing power applies it. Category 1 is a controlled stop and then power removal. Category 2 keeps power on and is not permitted for an emergency stop.
