ANSI E1.6-1-2021
Entertainment Technology - Powered Hoist Systems
Scope
Requirements for the design, manufacture, installation, inspection, and maintenance of powered hoist systems used to lift and suspend loads for performance, presentation, and theatrical production. It excludes structural attachment points, the rigging of the load itself, performer flying systems, welded link chain hoists, and manually powered hoists.
Notes
Performer flying is deliberately out of scope here and is covered by ANSI E1.43 instead. Read the exclusion list before quoting this document in a method statement, because a hoist that lifts scenery and a hoist that lifts a person are held to different standards.
