Smaart
Dual-channel FFT measurement software: transfer function, impulse response, RTA and SPL logging. The standard tool for aligning and tuning a PA system against a reference.
Protocols it speaks
| Protocol | Direction | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| dante | in | Measurement input via Dante Virtual Soundcard or a Dante interface. |
What to watch for
The measurement microphone position is the measurement. Two engineers measuring the same system three metres apart get different, equally correct answers.
Transfer function needs a genuine reference feed of the same signal. A reference taken after processing measures nothing useful about that processing.
Coherence is the honesty indicator. Low coherence means the data in that band should not be acted on, however convincing the trace looks.
Typical use
- Aligning subs to tops and delays to mains
- Verifying system EQ against a measurement
- Logging SPL against a venue limit
