Mixing Station
Third-party remote control app for a wide range of digital consoles - X32/M32, dLive, SQ, Yamaha and others - widely used because it often outruns the manufacturer app for stage-side mixing.
Protocols it speaks
| Protocol | Direction | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| osc | bidirectional | Uses each console's own network control protocol, OSC where the console offers it. |
| midi | bidirectional | MIDI control where the console supports it. |
What to watch for
Any tablet mixing app depends on Wi-Fi. A single access point on a stage full of bodies and RF is the weak link, not the app.
Third-party, so console firmware updates can break it before an update lands. Do not update console firmware the week of a show that depends on it.
Typical use
- Mixing monitors from the stage on a tablet
- Ringing out wedges while standing at the microphone
- Giving a musician control of their own monitor mix
