Depence
Windows show-design and visualisation platform covering stage lighting, laser, video, fountains and special effects in one real-time 3D model. A separate Control module can drive the actual show output as well as previsualise it.
Protocols it speaks
| Protocol | Direction | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| art-net | bidirectional | Listed on Syncronorm's system-integration page; used to receive console output for previz, and the separate Control module is marketed as able to drive the real show over the same DMX network protocols. |
| sacn | in | Listed alongside Art-Net on Syncronorm's own system-integration page as a supported DMX-over-network input. |
| midi | in | Listed among Depence's documented show-control integration protocols. |
| ndi | in | NewTek/Vizrt NDI listed as a supported input on Syncronorm's system-integration page. |
| psn | in | PosiStageNet listed as a supported tracked-object input on the same page. |
| ltc | in | Listed as "SMPTE" among Depence's supported protocols; matched here to SMPTE/LTC timecode by name. |
What to watch for
Windows only, and integrated Intel graphics are explicitly called out as not fully supported. Syncronorm's own spec recommends a dedicated gaming GPU with at least 6 GB VRAM.
Licensing is modular and dongle-locked: Stage, Fountain, Special-FX, Laser, Animate and Control are separate paid modules, and none of them run without the USB licence dongle attached, even though the software itself installs on unlimited machines.
Perpetual module licences are valid for the current major release only (R4 at time of writing). Minor updates within a release are free; moving to the next major release is a separate paid upgrade.
Typical use
- Previsualising a combined lighting, video, laser and fountain design in one 3D scene before load-in
- Rehearsing a multimedia show against a photorealistic model of the venue
- Driving the real show over DMX/RDM and analog/digital I/O from the same show file via the Control module
- Selling a fountain, laser or architectural lighting concept to a client before installation
