Dante Controller
The routing and configuration tool for every Dante network: subscribe channels between devices, set sample rate and latency, name devices, and read the clock status that tells you why audio is ticking.
Protocols it speaks
| Protocol | Direction | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| dante | bidirectional | Discovers, routes and configures Dante devices. Does not itself carry audio. |
| aes67 | bidirectional | Configures AES67 mode on capable devices. |
| ptp-1588 | bidirectional | Displays PTP clock status, master election and offsets. |
| mdns-dns-sd | bidirectional | Dante discovery is mDNS, which is why devices vanish across a routed boundary. |
What to watch for
Device names are the patch. Renaming a device breaks every subscription that referenced the old name, which is why naming happens before programming, not after.
The clock status tab is the first place to look for ticks and dropouts, not the audio path. One device set as preferred master while another insists on being master is the classic cause.
Latency is set per device and the network must accommodate the highest. A single device left at 0.15 ms on a multi-switch network will drop audio while everything else looks fine.
Typical use
- Patching a Dante network
- Diagnosing clock and latency problems
- Naming devices before a show file references them
