SSL Live L550
Solid State Logic's large-format live console, with the processing architecture and the stem-based workflow that come from the company's studio history — which is why it turns up on theatre and broadcast-adjacent work as often as on tours.
Protocols it speaks
| Protocol | Direction | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| madi | bidirectional | Primary I/O transport. |
| dante | bidirectional | Via option card. |
| word-clock | bidirectional | Clock. |
| midi | bidirectional | Control. |
What to watch for
The signal-path model is not the same as the channel-strip model most live desks use. Budget familiarisation time for a visiting engineer.
