Evertz 5601MSC Master Sync and Clock
Broadcast master sync generator: house video reference, word clock, LTC and PTP from one disciplined source, optionally locked to GNSS. The single box that decides what time it is for an entire facility.
Protocols it speaks
| Protocol | Direction | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| genlock | out | Blackburst and tri-level reference. |
| ltc | bidirectional | Timecode. |
| word-clock | out | Audio reference. |
| ptp-1588 | out | PTP grandmaster, depending on option. |
| nmea-0183 | in | GNSS discipline. |
| ntp | out | Time of day for the facility. |
| snmp | bidirectional | Monitoring. |
What to watch for
One master clock is the point. A second reference added "just for the video rack" recreates the problem the first one solved.
Video reference, word clock, LTC, PTP and NTP are five different things that all get called "sync". Be explicit about which one a device needs.
