Cisco Catalyst 9300
Enterprise stackable switch that turns up as venue and broadcast infrastructure rather than as touring kit. Powerful, well supported, and configured in a language that assumes a network engineer — which is why an entertainment-focused switch is often the better answer on a truck.
Protocols it speaks
| Protocol | Direction | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| ptp-1588 | bidirectional | Depending on licence and configuration. |
| snmp | bidirectional | Monitoring. |
| dante | bidirectional | Transported when configured correctly. |
| sacn | bidirectional | Transported; IGMP snooping and a querier must be configured. |
What to watch for
IGMP snooping without a querier is worse than no snooping. On a venue switch this is the single most common cause of a lighting network that dies when audio is added.
Feature availability is licensed. Confirm the licence tier before designing around PTP or advanced QoS.
