Gel 色紙
A sheet of coloured polyester or polycarbonate placed in front of a lamp to colour the beam. Modern gel is not gelatine; the name survives from the material used before plastics, and is specified by a manufacturer's number rather than by a colour name.

放在燈前面替光上色的塑膠色片。現在的色紙不是明膠做的，這個英文名字只是從塑膠出現以前的材料留下來的。實務上用廠牌編號指定，不用顏色名稱。

Easy to get wrong
「凝膠」是 gel 的字典翻譯，在劇場是錯的。要講色紙。
Diffusion and frost come in the same swatch books and the same size sheets but are not colour. Asking for "a gel" when you want frost gets the wrong sheet.
Colour correction filters such as CTB and CTO are gels, but they are specified by mired shift, not by how blue or orange they look.
