Dry ice 乾冰
Solid carbon dioxide at about minus 78 degrees Celsius. Dropped into hot water it produces dense white low fog, doing the chilling and the fog-making in one gesture and with no machine in the sight line. It sublimes directly from solid to gas, so it leaves no liquid behind.
中文
固態二氧化碳,約攝氏零下 78 度。投入熱水即產生濃密的白色低空煙,同時完成冷卻與造霧,且視線內不需要機器。它由固態直接昇華為氣體,不會留下液體。
Easy to get wrong
The visible white cloud is condensed water vapour from the air, not the carbon dioxide. The gas itself is invisible, and it is the gas that displaces air.
It is a contact hazard as well as an atmosphere one. At minus 78 degrees it causes cold burns, and it must never be transported in a sealed container or in an unventilated vehicle cab.
