Additive colour mixing
Mixing by adding light. Each emitter contributes its own spectrum and the surface receives the sum, so you start at black and every source you bring up adds. Red plus green is yellow. This is what multi-emitter LED fixtures do, and what any two lamps pointed at the same wall do.

The primaries differ from paint's. Additive primaries are red, green and blue; subtractive are cyan, magenta and yellow. Anyone taught colour with paint expects red and green to make brown.
