UL 1573
Standard for Safety - Stage and Studio Luminaires and Connector Strips
Scope
Safety requirements for stage and studio luminaires rated 600 V or less for theatres and studios, plus connector strips and drop boxes: borderlights, spotlights, floodlights, footlights and portable strips, in line with NEC Articles 520 and 530.
Notes
The listing mark a US venue or AHJ looks for on a stage fixture. Carbon arc lamps, amateur movie lights and residential lighting are explicitly outside its scope. A fixture built to IEC 60598-2-17 for the European market is not automatically acceptable to a US inspector, and vice versa.
