NFPA 160
Standard for the Use of Flame Effects Before an Audience
Scope
Requirements for flame effects used before an audience: effect classification, plans, permits, operators, fuel handling and the safety distances between open flame and people.
Notes
Flame effects (fire as an effect) are NFPA 160; pyrotechnics (things that go bang) before a proximate audience are NFPA 1126. Permits usually require compliance with the one that actually matches the effect.
