NFPA 101 (Life Safety Code)
NFPA 101: Life Safety Code
Scope
Occupant life safety in buildings: means of egress, occupant load calculation, assembly occupancy requirements, and the provisions for stages and platforms including proscenium fire curtains and smoke venting.
Notes
The chapter on assembly occupancies is what an inspector is holding when they ask about your egress width, your aisle, your occupant load and whether that scenic build is blocking a route. Free to read online, which makes it worth actually reading before a load-in argument.
Where to get it
NFPA (free read-only access after registration)
