ISO 13855
Safety of machinery — Positioning of safeguards with respect to the approach speeds of parts of the human body
Scope
How far a guard, light curtain or detection field must be from a hazard so that the hazard has stopped before anybody can reach it. Gives the approach speed constants and the S = (K × T) + C formula.
Notes
The reason a slow safety network pushes a barrier further away: T is the total time from detection to the hazard stopping, and every millisecond in the chain becomes millimetres on the floor.
