IEEE 802.3bt-2018
IEEE Standard for Ethernet Amendment 2: Physical Layer and Management Parameters for DTE Power via MDI over 4-Pair (PoE Type 3 and Type 4)
Scope
The four-pair Power over Ethernet amendment: Type 3 up to 60 W and Type 4 up to 90 W at the source, against 30 W for the older 802.3at. This is the clause that lets a single Cat6 run power a moving light, a PTZ camera or a powered speaker.
Notes
Rolled into IEEE 802.3-2022, so quote the base standard for compliance and this number for the feature. Vendor labels do not all mean the same thing: "PoE++", "UPoE" and "Hi-PoE" are marketing, Type 3 and Type 4 are the standard, and a Type 4 load on a Type 2 switch simply will not come up.
