IEC 60825-1:2014
Safety of laser products - Part 1: Equipment classification and requirements
Scope
Covers the safety of laser products emitting laser radiation in the wavelength range 180 nm to 1 mm. It sets the classification scheme that produces the Class 1 to Class 4 labels found on show lasers, along with the manufacturer's requirements for labelling, engineering controls, and accessible emission limits.
Notes
Edition 3.0, published 15 May 2014, with interpretation sheets from December 2017. This part classifies the product. It does not by itself authorise audience-scanning or set the exposure limits an operator has to work to, and national regulators add their own requirements on top.
