ANSI E1.27-1-2006 (R2016)
Entertainment Technology - Standard for Portable Control Cables for Use with ANSI E1.11 (DMX512-A) and USITT DMX512/1990 Products
Scope
What a portable DMX cable actually has to be: characteristic impedance, conductor and shield construction, connector wiring, and the marking that distinguishes it from microphone cable.
Notes
This is the standard that says, in writing, that a 3-pin mic cable is not a DMX cable. It works on a short run at low load and then does not, usually on the longest run of the rig in front of an audience. Free to read, so there is no excuse for the argument.
