ANSI E1.20-2025
Entertainment Technology - Remote Device Management over DMX512 Networks (RDM)
Scope
Adds bidirectional communication to a DMX512 line so a controller can discover devices, read and set DMX start addresses, query sensors, and collect status messages, using an alternate start code so that it shares the cable with ordinary DMX512 traffic.
Notes
ESTA distributes the download as an archive containing ANSI E1.20 together with ANSI E1.37-1 and ANSI E1.37-2, which define additional parameter messages. Any RDM work needs the E1.37 parts as well as this one.
