sACNView
Cross-platform open-source application for monitoring, viewing, and transmitting Streaming ACN (sACN/E1.31) DMX-over-Ethernet data, widely used to inspect universes, sources, and priorities.
Protocols it speaks
| Protocol | Direction | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| sacn | bidirectional | Core purpose is monitoring and sending ANSI/ESTA E1.31 (Streaming ACN). |
What to watch for
'sACNView mark 2' is a ground-up Qt6/C++ rewrite; it is not config- or plugin-compatible with the older Delphi-based original sACNView.
A separate legacy build is maintained for Windows XP since the current releases require newer OS versions.
Typical use
- View live per-channel DMX levels for any sACN universe on the network
- Detect duplicate or conflicting sACN sources on the same universe and compare their priorities
- Send test sACN data to verify a fixture, node, or console's reception
- Oscilloscope-style view of channel level changes over time for chase/timing diagnosis
