Resolume Arena
Clip-based video playback and mixing software with projection mapping, soft edge blending and DMX fixture output. Arena is the upper tier above Avenue and carries the features a show with projectors or LED actually needs.
Protocols it speaks
| Protocol | Direction | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| art-net | out | Pixel and fixture output to lights uses Art-Net. Enttec USB DMX devices are not supported from Arena 6 onward. |
| osc | bidirectional | |
| ndi | bidirectional |
What to watch for
Projection mapping, edge blending, DMX control, DMX fixture output, SMPTE timecode input, groups and slice transforms are Arena-only. A show designed in Arena will not open usefully on an Avenue seat.
DMX output from Arena is Art-Net. Enttec USB DMX widgets stopped being supported at Arena 6, so an old USB interface in the case is dead weight.
Licences are perpetual and per computer, so a spare machine on the truck needs its own licence rather than a copy of the show file.
Typical use
- Club and festival VJ playback
- Multi-projector mapping with soft edge blending
- Pixel mapping LED battens and strips from video content
- Timecoded video playback in a show with a fixed running order
