What to watch for

RDM only reaches devices where every splitter and node in the path passes it. One non-RDM splitter makes everything downstream invisible, which reads as "the fixtures are broken".

RDM traffic shares the DMX line with control data. Discovery during a show can visibly disturb output on some older fixtures.
