Open Stage Control
Build a custom control surface in a browser and drive anything that speaks OSC or MIDI with it. Free, scriptable, and the standard answer when a show needs a bespoke tablet panel that no vendor sells.
Protocols it speaks
| Protocol | Direction | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| osc | bidirectional | Core. |
| midi | bidirectional | Core. |
What to watch for
It is a server plus a browser client. The browser is the surface, so the network between them is show-critical.
A panel that only its author understands is a handover risk. Document the layout with the show file.
Typical use
- Custom tablet and phone control surfaces
- Simplified panels for non-technical operators
- A remote for software that has an OSC interface and a bad one of its own
