MadMapper
Projection mapping and LED pixel mapping application that treats surfaces and fixtures as one output canvas. Common on installations and mid-size shows where a full media server is overkill.
Protocols it speaks
| Protocol | Direction | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| art-net | bidirectional | Documented as Art-Net 4 compliant, up to 4096 DMX universes. |
| sacn | bidirectional | |
| dmx512 | bidirectional | |
| osc | bidirectional | Includes OSC Query support. |
| ndi | bidirectional |
What to watch for
Perpetual licences are sold with a two-seat minimum. A single machine can only be licensed on the rental plan, which matters when budgeting one show laptop.
The free demo watermarks input, output and preview and disables saving and loading projects, so it cannot be used to build a show in advance.
Laser output is MadLaser, a separate product, not a MadMapper feature. Do not quote laser control on the strength of a MadMapper licence.
Typical use
- Mapping video onto scenic objects and irregular surfaces
- Pixel mapping LED strips, battens and custom fixtures from video content
- Permanent installations driven by the MiniMad hardware player
- Laser content when paired with MadLaser
