Lightkey
macOS lighting control application aimed at small venues, bands and installations, with a free tier limited by fixture count and a straightforward live-oriented interface.
Protocols it speaks
| Protocol | Direction | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| dmx512 | out | DMX out via USB interfaces. |
| art-net | out | Art-Net output. |
| sacn | out | sACN output. |
| midi | in | MIDI triggering from surfaces. |
| osc | in | OSC control. |
What to watch for
The free tier caps fixture count rather than time. A rig that grows past the cap stops being free mid-project.
macOS only, and lighting laptops in small venues are often whatever is available. Confirm the platform before promising this to a venue.
Typical use
- Small venue and club lighting from a Mac
- Band-operated lighting without a dedicated operator
- Small installations
