Blender
Free and open-source 3D creation suite covering modelling, animation, rendering, compositing and video editing. Increasingly used in live events for content, previs and set visualisation.
What to watch for
Render output has to match the screen geometry exactly. Content rendered at the wrong aspect or pixel pitch is the single most common reason a wall looks wrong on site.
Version changes can alter render results. Pin the Blender version for a project the way you would pin a media server version.
Typical use
- Rendering content for LED and projection
- Modelling a set for previs
- Camera-matched visualisation of a stage design
