Building information modelling: the venue's own world, where every element carries data about what it is and what it can take, and clashes are found by query rather than by eye. For touring work you mostly consume the output; for installed and new-build work you contribute to it.
What to watch for
IFC round trips lose things. Agree what has to survive an exchange before relying on it.
A model can be beautifully detailed and out of date. Ask when it was last updated against the building as built.
