ArKaos MediaMaster
Long-established DMX-controlled media server software aimed at lighting operators: clips are triggered and manipulated as if they were fixture parameters from the lighting console.
Protocols it speaks
| Protocol | Direction | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| art-net | in | Art-Net control from a lighting console. |
| sacn | in | sACN control from a lighting console. |
| dmx512 | in | Direct DMX in via an interface. |
| osc | bidirectional | OSC control. |
| ndi | bidirectional | NDI in and out. |
| citp | bidirectional | CITP/MSEX thumbnails to the console. |
| midi | bidirectional | MIDI control. |
| ltc | in | LTC sync. |
What to watch for
The DMX personality is the interface. Changing the personality mid-programming shifts every parameter address and invalidates the console patch.
CITP thumbnails need the console and server on the same network segment with multicast working, which is the usual reason a lighting operator sees black tiles.
Typical use
- LED screen content driven entirely from the lighting desk
- Small-format projection with console control
- Club and corporate video walls
