Mo-Sys StarTracker
Camera tracking that works by looking upward at retro-reflective markers on the ceiling and computing where the camera is from what it sees. Robust because the reference is fixed to the building rather than to encoders on a moving rig.
Protocols it speaks
| Protocol | Direction | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| freed | out | Camera position and lens data. |
| genlock | in | Frame reference so tracking data lines up with the picture. |
What to watch for
Lens calibration is as important as position. An AR graphic that slides when the camera moves is usually a lens data problem, not a tracking one.
It needs a ceiling it can see. Rigging, drapes and moving trusses all take markers out of view.
