Luminex GigaCore 16Xt
1U managed gigabit switch built for show networks, with twelve etherCON ports, four SFP cages and an optional 160 W PoE budget. Configured with named Groups rather than raw VLAN numbers.
Protocols it speaks
| Protocol | Direction | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| art-net | bidirectional | Transported, not originated. The switch is protocol-aware for QoS and multicast handling. |
| sacn | bidirectional | Transported, not originated. IGMP snooping is the reason to use a managed switch here. |
| dante | bidirectional | Transported. The manual claims low-jitter handling for Dante traffic. |
| avb-milan | bidirectional | The manual states full AVB and AVB Milan support. |
| aes67 | bidirectional | Transported, listed alongside RAVENNA. |
| ravenna | bidirectional | Transported, listed alongside AES67. |
| snmp | out | SNMP monitoring of switch state. |
Connectors
- 10x etherCON 10/100/1000 (front)
- 2x etherCON 10/100/1000 (rear)
- 4x SFP cages for mini-GBIC transceivers (rear)
What to watch for
PoE is optional and budgeted. The PoE model shares 160 W across the ten front etherCON ports at a maximum of 30 W per port, so a rack of PoE++ devices will exceed it.
Groups are Luminex's VLAN abstraction. Group 0 is reserved for inter-switch links and Group 1 for management, leaving 19 generic groups, and a port left in the wrong group looks exactly like a bad cable.
Link aggregation via MultiLinkX only applies to inter-switch link ports. You cannot bond arbitrary edge ports to a device.
Ten stored profiles per switch and export/import between switches. Save and export the profile before the truck leaves, because a swapped spare comes out of the box in the default configuration.
