Eos Apex 5

The smallest console in ETC's Eos Apex range, with 24,576 outputs, five motorised faders and a single 23.8-inch 4K touchscreen. All output leaves over the network because the desk carries no DMX ports.

Protocols it speaks

ProtocolDirectionNotes
sacn bidirectional The primary output protocol for Eos, and also usable as a show control input.
art-net bidirectional Carries DMX and RDM data and coexists with sACN on the same network.
rdm bidirectional RDM data is carried over Art-Net and over ETC Net3.
osc bidirectional Over UDP or TCP. Needs no gateway.
midi-show-control bidirectional Available on the console's own MIDI ports or through a Gateway.
mtc in Receive only, from local MIDI or a Gateway.
ltc in SMPTE timecode is receive only and needs a Response show control gateway.

Connectors

What to watch for

There are no DMX ports on the console. Local DMX needs an I/O Garage with Gadget II modules, so a job that expects five-pin out of the desk needs extra kit ordered.
SMPTE and analogue inputs are receive-only and generally need a Response gateway. Only MIDI and OSC are available directly from the console.
Eos software v3.2.0 and later dropped ETCNet2. An older Net2 node in a house rig will not be picked up by a current Apex.
Apex 5, 10 and 20 differ in fader count and screens, not in output capacity. Specify by playback layout, not by channel count.
