RDM proxy RDM
An RDM device that responds on behalf of others, holding a list of the UIDs behind it so a controller can be handed that list rather than discovering through it. Typically a gateway onto a segment that does not speak RDM, or a system with its own internal bus. Devices behind a proxy appear in the patch as ordinary devices.

Easy to get wrong
A UID on your line need not be a device on your line. Behind a proxy it may sit on another bus entirely, which is confusing when you go looking for it.
