Link aggregation (LAG / LACP)

networking

Making several physical cables behave as one logical link, for redundancy and for total throughput. The switch picks a physical link per flow by hashing addresses or ports, so every packet of one conversation follows one cable and arrives in order.

Easy to get wrong

Aggregation is resilience always and bandwidth only sometimes. A single 1.4 Gbit/s stream across two 1 Gbit/s links does not work; it picks one link and drops the excess.
