showstack / glossary / dark
Dark 封箱 / 暗場
A day or period when a venue has no performance. Also used for a stage that is unlit. Which one is meant depends entirely on context, and getting it wrong costs a day of crew.
中文
劇場沒有演出的日子,或指舞台無燈的狀態。兩種意思差很多,要看上下文判斷。
Regional usage
| Where | Term | Note |
|---|---|---|
| US | Dark day | A scheduled non-performance day in a running production. |
| UK | Dark | Also used of a theatre with no production booked at all, sometimes for months. |
Easy to get wrong
"Going dark" in a broadcast or corporate AV context means losing signal or going off air, not taking a day off.
"Blackout" is a lighting state inside a show. "Dark" is a state of the building. Calling a blackout "dark" on headset will get you a confused LX op.
